What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy (also spelled homoeopathy) is a safe and effective system of medicine that is used world-wide by millions of people. Homeopathy is based on the established principle that ‘like cures like’. This means that a substance that can cause a disease, can also be used in high dilution, to cure
that disease. Homeopathic treatment focuses on you as an individual, and your specific symptoms. Homeopathy addresses the underlying imbalances which cause disease, thereby providing a lasting resolution to health problems.
What conditions does it treat?
A wide variety of acute and chronic conditions can be treated with homeopathy including; skin conditions; recurrent infections; hay fever; migraines; respiratory conditions; digestive complaints; menstrual disorders; anxiety; depression; chronic fatigue and many more.
Your first homeopathic consultation lasts approximately 1 hour. You will be asked questions about your health and general well being, and your medical history. You will also be asked questions about your temperament, anxieties, stress, sleep, and appetite. Based on the information you have provided, you will be prescribed a homoeopathic remedy. About 4 weeks after you start your homoeopathic remedy, you will have a follow up consultation to assess how your treatment is progressing.
Homeopathic remedies are prepared according to precise scientific standards in regulated homeopathic pharmacies. The remedies are made from a variety of sources including plants and minerals. These highly diluted preparations work by gently stimulating the body’s immune system. Homeopathic remedies are safe, non-toxic, and have no harmful side-effects.
Your remedy is dispensed in the form of mildly sweet pills, powders or liquids which are easy to take. Some people experience an immediate improvement after taking a remedy. Others may experience a slight, short-term, intensification of symptoms, before improving. The intensification of symptoms is a positive indication as it indicates that the remedy is working.
